#share7 Charity Spotlight: Group B Strep Support

To continue our charity spotlight section, where we will provide an overview of each charity we are supporting in our 2018 #share7 campaign, we are focusing on Group B Strep Support (GBSS).

Every member of the Search Seven team has chosen a charity to support this year that is close to their hearts, with Group B Strep Support, being the charity that Becky Henderson, our Office / Operations Manager (below right), chose to support through the #share7 fundraising initiative.

Becky states “GBSS is working to stop Group B Strep infection in newborn babies. Like many I had never heard of Group B Strep until the birth of my first son. Luckily our story has a happy ending however for many others this is not the case. Group B Strep is the most common cause of life-threating infections in new born babies and most of these can be prevented. Currently GBS isn’t tested for on the NHS but individuals can pay to have this test privately, unfortunately this information is often not shared. This is why I have chosen the charity, the work they do to educate and raise awareness is critical as well as the support they provide to families effected by GBS infection.”

On being included in #share7, GBSS have said: “We are so grateful for SearchSeven and would like to thank the whole team, and especially Becky who nominated us. The charity relies on supporters like SearchSeven and the money raised from events like theirs to continue its vital work, saving lives and supporting families across the UK.” (Jane Plumb MBE, Chief Executive and Founder)

We have three big charity events lined up this year, starting with a charity football match at the AMEX stadium on May 7th (7pm kick off), followed by a golf event on August 30th and a quiz night on November 22nd. More info can be found here, with sponsorship packages available for the AMEX game, as well as how to enquire about places for a golf and a quiz team!
